Meet Dr. Jimin Suh, DDS

Dr. Jimin Suh was born in South Korea and grew up primarily in Maryland. During her high school and college years she watched how much a healthy smile can change a person’s confidence and overall well-being, and that observation pointed her toward a career in dentistry. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maryland, College Park, then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Wanting broader clinical training before private practice, she moved across the country for a General Practice Residency at Highland Hospital in Oakland, a setting that brought her patients with urgent problems and complex histories.

Dr. Suh had planned to return to the East Coast after her residency. The Bay Area’s community and natural beauty changed her mind. Her approach to care rests on compassion, clear communication, and treatment planned around what each person actually wants. Preventive dentistry is a particular interest of hers, since small problems caught early spare patients the cost and recovery time of bigger procedures later. She is equally focused on relieving dental pain and restoring comfort, which often means seeing people who have avoided the dentist for years and need someone to listen first.

Dr. Suh is fluent in English and Korean, allowing her to connect with families throughout Castro Valley who are more at ease discussing their health in their first language. A welcoming, stress-free visit matters to her as much as the clinical work itself, and it reflects the environment we work to create at every appointment. She takes time to explain what she sees in your mouth and why she recommends what she recommends. Away from the office, Dr. Suh enjoys traveling, testing new recipes at home, and finding scenic local trails to walk.
